Yesha: A Sweet, Friendly Handwritten Font for Makers

It started with a candle label—just one small 2.5-inch oval sticker I was prepping for a spring batch of lavender-vanilla soy candles. I opened my design file, typed “Hand-poured • Small Batch • Made with Care,” and cycled through a few script fonts. None felt quite right—some were too formal, others too fussy or overly ornate. Then I loaded Yesha, typed the same line, and paused. There it was: warm, effortless, quietly confident. Not stiff. Not trendy. Just real. Like someone had written it with a fine-tip marker on kraft paper—slight variation in stroke weight, gentle curves, soft entry and exit strokes, and that unmistakable handwritten charm.

Yesha is a script font from Script Amp, designed as a friendly, natural handwritten typeface—not overly polished, not artificially bouncy, but full of quiet personality. It’s the kind of font that makes “Thank You” feel personal, “New Arrivals” feel inviting, and “Est. 2023” feel grounded. Its lowercase letters have subtle rhythm and flow, while capitals carry just enough presence to anchor a title without shouting. It’s not meant for body text—but oh, how beautifully it works for short phrases, names, labels, and decorative emphasis.

I’ve used Yesha across real handmade projects this season: on matte-finish candle labels (printed on sticker paper and die-cut), hand-lettered-style wedding welcome boards (SVG cut for wood signs), printable wall art for nursery decor, boutique gift tags tied to ceramic mugs, and even as the hero font on digital planner covers. Every time, it adds a gentle, human touch—like the difference between typing a note and writing one by hand. That warmth translates directly to how customers perceive your products: more thoughtful, more intentional, more *yours*.

For physical goods, readability matters—and Yesha delivers where it counts. At 14–18 pt, it’s crisp on printed greeting cards and sturdy enough for 1.25-inch product tags. On Cricut or Silhouette machines, I’ve cut Yesha cleanly at 16 pt using clean SVG exports (always double-check your software’s font-to-path conversion). For tiny stickers—like 0.75-inch enamel-style labels—I stick to single words (“Joy,” “Love,” “Hello”) or initials; the letterforms hold shape well, especially with its included alternate characters and ligatures turned on. No thin, breakable terminals—just soft, consistent lines that survive printing, cutting, and handling.

Seasonal work feels especially joyful with Yesha. I recently designed a set of printable Easter egg hunt clues—each clue began with a hand-drawn egg icon and the word “Find” in Yesha. The font’s light bounce made the activity feel playful but not childish. For holiday gift tags, I paired Yesha with a clean sans serif (like Montserrat Light) for recipient names—Yesha for “To,” sans for “Emma,” and Yesha again for “From.” That simple pairing creates hierarchy, warmth, and visual breathing room.

Yesha shines brightest when it’s not carrying the whole load. As a display font, it pairs beautifully with minimalist sans serifs (for contrast and clarity), gentle serifs (like Playfair Display for vintage stationery), or even another restrained script—if you’re layering textures, like a bold swash initial followed by Yesha for the rest of a name. I avoid pairing it with other busy handwritten fonts—they compete instead of complement. And for shop branding? Yesha works wonders in logo lockups, social media banners, and listing thumbnails—especially when exported as vector graphics so it stays sharp at any size.

What really sets Yesha apart is how naturally it fits into real workflows. It includes OpenType features—standard and discretionary ligatures, contextual alternates, and swashes—that let you refine flow without manual tweaking. I use the swashes sparingly: only on the first letter of a wedding invitation suite or the final “y” in “Thank You” on a tote bag tag. The font comes in OTF and TTF formats, supports Latin-based languages (including accents for French, Spanish, and German), and is licensed for commercial use—so yes, you can embed it in digital printables, use it on physical merchandise like shirts and mugs, and include it in SVG designs sold on Etsy or Creative Market.

Before sending anything to print or upload, I always test three things: First, I zoom in at 400% to check spacing—Yesha’s kerning is intuitive, but I still glance at tricky pairs like “To” or “We.” Second, I preview in grayscale—some scripts lose warmth in B&W, but Yesha retains its soft contrast. Third, I print a sample label or card on my home printer, hold it next to a finished product, and ask: Does it feel like part of the same family? With Yesha, it almost always does.

Whether you're designing a farmhouse-style sign for your porch, laying out a bridal shower menu, drafting a digital sticker sheet for planners, or choosing typography for your new candle line’s packaging—it’s not just about picking a pretty font. It’s about choosing a voice. Yesha doesn’t shout. It leans in. It invites. And in a world of fast-scrolling feeds and crowded marketplaces, that quiet sincerity is exactly what makes handmade work stand out.

So next time you open your design app to add that final, human touch—try Yesha. Type something simple: “Made with Love.” Or “Small Batch.” Or just your name. See how it settles onto the page. Feel how it changes the air around your design. That’s not just typography. That’s connection—crafted, one letter at a time.
